Rub a Dub Dub

Bath time! Babies' first baths in a makeshift tub on Grandma's kitchen table. After Chase peed a stream half way across Grandma's kitchen, he settled in. As you can see from the pictures, both babies seemed to enjoy the pampering.

Special Care

Gracie Mae spent exactly two weeks in the Special Care unit at the hospital, an Chase was released two days later. They were pretty healthy from the beginning, just had a little trouble eating all on their own and Gracie had a couple days on oxygen. It was a long two weeks for all of us, but the nurses were AMAZING!

Visitors

Gracie and Chase get some visitors in the NICU. They had a waiting room full of people wanting to see them, but only a select few were allowed in. Grandma and Bumpa, Grandpa Gressman and Grandma Margie, and we snuck Great Grammy in for a peek too. There weren't even windows in the NICU for the rest of the visitors. :(

Dr Quincy

Quincy was concerned that they cut Mom open to get the babies out, so she inspected things herself. She counted eight staples, poked gently and determined I would be ok.

Everyone was waiting for us!
They must have flown low to be to the hospital so quickly, but they were all there. Mom, Dad, Em, Gram, Robert (even though he was missing March Madness), Margie, Mesia, Alex, Cara and Hettie!

My Big Girl

Quincy was the first person I saw when I got out of the operating room. I cried! My "baby" wasn't my baby anymore, she was officially my big girl now. She was worried that I was crying, and I just needed to hold her. They wouldn't let me hold my new babies yet.

Today's the Day!

April 4th, 2009 - Today's the Day!

Saturday morning I posted on facebook.com that 4/4 would be an easy birthday to remember, so I thought it would be a good day to have babies. Little did I know!!
I went to work at Discover feeling tired, but fine. About four hours into my shift I wasn't feeling too hot, nothing major, just not too hot. I decided to call it a day, I sent an e-mail to my boss "just in case" and headed home. On the way home I call the doctor to let them know my feet were REALLY swollen, was there anything I could do about it. She told me to head to the hospital. I called Chris, he said he could pick me up at my mom's in West Jordan, but it would take him about an hour. That was fine with me, I wasn't in any hurry. When I got to my mom's I decided to take a shower. Big as I was I managed to shave my legs "just in case". I got dressed, braided my hair and even put on make-up. When Chris got there Mom fed him lunch and we headed out, suitcase packed "just in case". When we got to the hospital they were expecting us. I had Chris take a before picture of me "just in case" this was it. Good thing I did! The nurse checked me, I was dialated to a five and having contractions. She left to call the doctor and came back to say, "You ready to have these babies in and hour?" An HOUR!! I turned to Chris, "Call Mom and Dad" In less than an hour they had me prepped and ready for a C-section. Most of you know that I did not want a C-section, but laying there on the hospital bed, numb from my chest down wasn't so bad. The doctor asked me how I was feeling, "Amazing" I replied from behind my oxygen mask. My back didn't ache, my stomach wasn't sore, I was laying comfortably, I felt good. I laid quietly and listened as the doctors discussed Priesthood meeting. Turns out I interrupted Conference Weekend.
At 6:16 pm my little girl was born, and shortly after at 6:18 came my little boy. The nurses brought them close for about thirty seconds each so I could see them and then they were whisked away to the NICU.

~Good Night Kiss~

Quincy giving her baby brother and sister a good night kiss! I know what you're thinking and you're right. . . I'm HUGE! We still have a few more weeks to go, so this isn't even as big as it'll get. I have photo editor for red eyes, but not blue veins. LOL Not too many stretch marks though, thank you cocoa butter.

Kids say the Darndest Things!

Quincy was quite the character today!
It started with Old MacDonald. . .apparently he has a Iguana on his farm now.
Next she said, "You never took me to the Dinosaur Museum. . . now they're all dead!"
Later Old MacDonald added popcorn and Orange Julius to his collection.
In the afternoon she told me, "My teeth are almost old enough to fall out."
LOL - She keeps me laughing that's for sure!

31 weeks

I'm 31 weeks today, which means 6 more weeks to what the doctors consider full term with twins. And, I'm pleased to say that they are both growing well. She's 4 lbs and he's 3 lbs 15 oz. WebMD says average weight at 31 weeks is 3 lbs 8 oz, so we couldn't ask for more. The doctor said today, if I can carry them these last six weeks, we'll be looking at 6 to 7 lb babies!! Which is healthy for one, but would be AWESOME for two. Keep your fingers crossed, and I'll keep my feet up as much as possible!

Honored Queen's Ball

Princess Quincy in her "Fancy Nancy" dress, dancing with her cousin Alexis at the Job's Daughter's Honored Queen's Ball. She loves the Jobies, almost as much as she loves showing off her "moves."

Pink Polka Dot Cupcakes

Apparently, all it takes to be "The Best Mom in the WHOLE WORLD", is a box of confetti (polka dot) cake mix, strawberry icing, pink sprinkles, purple sprinkles, rainbow sprinkles. . . and a Sunday afternoon.
They were delicious!

The Castle Bed

It's pink and purple, has a ladder and a slide, towers to climb up, and a princess bedspread!! Just what every little girl dreams of. . .ok maybe every mom too!
Daddy and Bumpa put it together, Grandma and Momma did the decorating. Quincy squealed, jumped up and down and played "Sleeping Beauty" for the rest of the afternoon.

Baby Names

For the Girl: Presley or Riley

For the Boy: Briggs, Colton or Paxton

We're still open to suggestions, or you can tell us what you think about the names we have.

The Twins

That's right! Two peas in my pod, and they're coming soon! Baby A is a little girl, and Baby B is a little boy. One of each, how much more perfect could it be! Quincy is thrilled to be getting a brother AND a sister!! Currently she's calling them Bo and Buzz Lightyear, which is a recent switch from Sonny and Unicorn. We've had plenty of check ups, several ultrasounds, and as it stands everything is coming along well. The girl is 2 lbs 8 oz and the boy is 2 lbs 5 oz. Eight more weeks and we'll deliver full term!

Quincy the Big Sister

What a HAM!! Quincy loves being the center of attention, even more than her mom. She's three and a half going on sixteen! Although she loves princesses, Buzz Lightyear is her favorite Disney character. She's her Momma's Little Girl and her Daddy's Hunting Buddy. She's a smarty pants. . .in fact she informed me recently, "a lady told me I'm ARTICULATE-that means I know big words." She's excited to be the Best Big Sister EVER! Quincy told the doctor at Kate's last check up, "My momma's belly's getting REAL BIG!" Kids say the darndest things!!

Kate the Mom

Kate is a working mom, who loves her job and her FAMILY! Kate enjoys spending time with friends and family whenever possible. You could say she's a social butterfly. If she had spare time, Kate would like to catch up on her scrapbooks, read the "Twilight" series she's heard so much about, and tear down all the wall paper in the house!! Kate enjoys cooking mac and cheese with Quincy by her side, and tries not to take the little things for granted!

Chris the Dad

Chris takes good care of our family. He's a hardworker and we appreciate all he does for us! As an Outfitter, he spends much of his time guiding hunts. . .which he enjoys of course. He's a great dad and always takes the time to play with Quincy. He takes her for horseback rides, four-wheeler rides, and sledding when the snow comes down. Quincy says when she grows up she's gonna shoot a bear, like her dad. I think this makes him proud! Lucky for me, he's also a handy man! If something breaks, Chris can usually fix it. Not to mention, he makes a killer breakfast for us on the weekends!
