Today's the Day!

April 4th, 2009 - Today's the Day!

Saturday morning I posted on facebook.com that 4/4 would be an easy birthday to remember, so I thought it would be a good day to have babies. Little did I know!!
I went to work at Discover feeling tired, but fine. About four hours into my shift I wasn't feeling too hot, nothing major, just not too hot. I decided to call it a day, I sent an e-mail to my boss "just in case" and headed home. On the way home I call the doctor to let them know my feet were REALLY swollen, was there anything I could do about it. She told me to head to the hospital. I called Chris, he said he could pick me up at my mom's in West Jordan, but it would take him about an hour. That was fine with me, I wasn't in any hurry. When I got to my mom's I decided to take a shower. Big as I was I managed to shave my legs "just in case". I got dressed, braided my hair and even put on make-up. When Chris got there Mom fed him lunch and we headed out, suitcase packed "just in case". When we got to the hospital they were expecting us. I had Chris take a before picture of me "just in case" this was it. Good thing I did! The nurse checked me, I was dialated to a five and having contractions. She left to call the doctor and came back to say, "You ready to have these babies in and hour?" An HOUR!! I turned to Chris, "Call Mom and Dad" In less than an hour they had me prepped and ready for a C-section. Most of you know that I did not want a C-section, but laying there on the hospital bed, numb from my chest down wasn't so bad. The doctor asked me how I was feeling, "Amazing" I replied from behind my oxygen mask. My back didn't ache, my stomach wasn't sore, I was laying comfortably, I felt good. I laid quietly and listened as the doctors discussed Priesthood meeting. Turns out I interrupted Conference Weekend.
At 6:16 pm my little girl was born, and shortly after at 6:18 came my little boy. The nurses brought them close for about thirty seconds each so I could see them and then they were whisked away to the NICU.
